Sadako Sasaki

Sadako Sasaki was a young Japanese girl who developed leukemia in 1955, due to the effects of radiation caused by the atomic bomb launched on Hiroshima. There’s a japanese saying that one who folded 1000 cranes (origamis) was granted a wish. So she started to make cranes, because she wished to get well.
